Fatal Two Car Collision in El Cajon
FATAL VEHICLE COLLISION IN EL CAJON

TYPE OF INCIDENT: TWO VEHICLE FATAL COLLISION
DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 05-05-17 at 0445 hours
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 1800 Block of Avocado Boulevard, El Cajon
RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On 05-05-17 at approximately 4:15 am, El Cajon police officers and paramedics responded to the 1800 block of Avocado Boulevard in El Cajon reference reports of a vehicle collision. Upon arrival, police found two vehicles, a silver Mazda sedan and a white Ford Ranger had been in a collision and were occupying both north and south bound lanes. The driver of the Mazda, a 21 year old female and the driver of the Ford Ranger, a white male approximately 20 years old were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Both are reportedly in stable condition and expected to survive. The passenger of the Mazda, a white male approximately 25 to 30 years of age was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of the family.
After a preliminary investigation of the scene and the taking of witness statements, it appears the Mazda was traveling southbound Avocado when it drifted into the oncoming northbound lanes, striking the Ford Ranger. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision. Avocado Boulevard is expected to be shut down in both directions until approximately noon today while officers are conducting their investigation.
